About

Our Symbols and Mottos

The official Miss American Teen International crown is adorned with five Pineapples, the international symbol of hospitality and friendship.  Between the pineapples in the crown are eight Olive Branches, the well-known symbol of peace and friendship dating back to ancient Greece.  Our symbols are an important representation of our belief that strength and empowerment of girls and young women is accomplished by creating a friendly environment in which all feel welcome and valued.  We promote and require a non-bullying environment at all activities and interactions among our members.  Even in "competition" we request support and applause by all attendees to all delegates.  This philosophy promotes confidence and self-assurance that are the building blocks for future success in life.  Our motto, "Be a Pineapple" furthers that objective.  An additional symbol, a girl in a party dress, represents our goal to create fun activities for young women to participate in that grow their confidence.

Our History

Founded in 2014 as a local non-profit scholarship pageant in suburban Miami, Florida, our organization began as Miss South Miami-Dade Teen Scholarship Pageant, Inc.  The pageant was the vision of Betty Davis, joined by her friends and members of her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha, including Shawna Cleveland, Dr. Kelli Hunter-Sheppard, Loretta Rahming and Myoushi Jones, its first directors. The inaugural pageant was held on Memorial Day Weekend 2015 at the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center in Cutler Bay.  Kiomi Hughes, a graduating honor student at Miami Killian Sr. High School was the first Miss South Miami-Dade Teen, winning a $5,000 scholarship.

In late 2015, the organization changed its name to Miss Florida Teen Scholarship Pageant, Inc and signed on to produce its first state-wide pageant for the Miss Teen America organization, Miss Florida Teen America, while continuing its local pageant tradition. Three state pageants were produced under that brand along with Royal Pageantry, Inc. and the company became one of the most recognized pageantry organizations in the state.  Our first Princess Pageant was produced in April 2018.

In March 2017, in partnership with Royal Pageantry, the organization launched its first international pageant, Miss Creation International, with a goal to expand the footprint of pageantry to include members of the faith community. The first international preliminary was held in the Bahamas. Considering the logistical issues involved, the organization decided to concentrate on the domestic market and re-branded the national pageant as Miss American Teen and Collegiate Pageant in April 2018, produced by its parent successor, Miss American Teen Scholarship Pageant, Inc. Today, Miss American Teen International is a thriving international pageant bringing young women together from across the world. We provide ambitious teens and young adults with opportunities to pursue modeling and acting jobs as a means of financing their academic studies.
